Scholarships are chosen by a local screening committee and the process is competitive. All applications need to be completed online. There is a $20, non-refundable application fee and, if you are approved for treatment, a $480 administrative fee, paid to the national office. S4L will not charge a fee for the orthodontic treatment – participating orthodontists donate their services, including the cost of one set of retainers once treatment is complete. Smile for a Lifetime (S4L) is an international program that provides orthodontic scholarships to children ages 11-18 who normally would not be able to afford treatment. Smile for A Lifetime patients have benefitted from improved self-esteem and emotional well-being, and in some cases, prevention of health problems including tooth decay and periodontal disease. Many children hide their smiles in order to avoid bullying, while others may experience health problems due to orthodontic issues. It is our mission to create self-confidence, inspire hope, and change the lives of children in a dramatic way. The fund has given over $10,000 to local children to encourage their artistic pursuits.Smile for A Lifetime Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization that provides orthodontic care to individuals who may not have the opportunity to acquire assistance. In each Paramus, NJ middle school and elementary school, and at the Hovnanian School in New Milford, awards and scholarship monies are given for outstanding achievement in art and in music. Kinoian is widowed and after his wife’s passing, from an almost 10-year struggle with breast cancer, he established The MaryAnn Kinoian Memorial Scholarship Fund. He has been on the board of directors for over ten years for the Armenian Center at Columbia University.ĭr. Kinoian is an active member of the Armenian American Health Professionals Organization where he acts as their unofficial photographer and has given several lectures on orthodontics including at their 2009 World Congress. He is licensed by the State Board of Dentistry in New Jersey and is proud to be recognized as a “Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics” by New Jersey Specialty Permit #3727.Īdditionally, Dr. Kinoian is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association and the Bergen County Dental Association. Kinoian was recently selected by a vote of his peers, for the sixth consecutive year, to be included in the listings of topDentists™, which are listings that cannot be purchased and are considered a singular honor.ĭr. He has performed on the great stages of Carnegie Recital Hall, New York’s Town Hall and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.ĭr. He has studied classical guitar with many of the world’s most renowned classical guitarists including the great Maestro Andres Segovia. Kinoian received an Ivy League education and his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College at Columbia University in New York where he majored in music. His Doctor of Dental Medicine degree was conferred by Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dental Medicine where he was top of his class in each of his four years of study.ĭr.
